Upside Analytics as been selected to help design and lead a program to accelerate audience revenue for 6 black-owned publishers in the US, as part of the CUNY Newmark School of Journalism Center for Community Media Black Media Initiative. More on program here.
Publishers can apply for the free 6 month program by Nov 14 here. Applications will be reviewed in the fall and program starts in January 2023. For those selected, they will be given free use of revenue platforms along with expert coaching at key stages along the journey. The goal is to create self-sustaining approaches that have been set up with guidance by experts.
The program was inspired by Cheryl Thompson-Morton, who leads the Black Media Initiative, and heard from her 400 members that audience revenue is a key area that needs more facilitation. In addition to Upside, expert partners who have joined in the effort include News Revenue Hub, Poool, SimpleCirc, as well as Get Current Studio's Michael Grant.
